Trying to visualise Tokyo, trying to visualise heaven.

Today is the day we are making a concerted effort to read up about Tokyo for the tourist.  Our hearts rejoice with a much greater joy at the prospect of seeing Michael, Isabelle, Josie and Evie again than wandering, for the first time in our lives, in Temple Gardens – for example.
But it is also exciting to be exploring new places and so it is that we have our noses in Japan tourist information  – to get a “feel for the city”.

Those squiggles convey no meaning to us whatsoever!  Pictures give us an idea and words in the Western alphabet give more understandable information.  But…….as for the scale, the atmosphere, the smells, the multitudes, the serenity, the history, the sounds, the mind-sets – well, we just know a few hard facts about Tokyo, don't  we - and that's it!

And so it is with heaven:  Tokyo is a world city – heaven is a universe-city –and as the tourist guides give us practical information, so did God communicate to us clues and some information about heaven. Enough information to assure people that Jesus shed His blood and ransomed many for an absolutely brilliant future with Him.
Please grant me a rage/vent- sentence:   I get irritated when people take pot-shot guesses at what  heaven is like.  You know, those  ridiculously silly descriptions …I’m not even going to quote them, so annoying, so NOT what heaven is.   And that when heaven is an infinitely breath-taking place where those who are united with Jesus on earth will shimmer in God’s revealed glory – permanently in awe, worshipping and adoring Jesus.
Etcetera.  Etcetera.  Etcetera!
Let’s get informed about heaven in God’s Word by His Spirit – let’s have our noses in the Bible -  and be motivated by what Jesus has won for us – knowing that in the meantime it’s like reading tourist information about a place you have yet to explore....
