Oh no! How are we going to find our way when we get there a little later this year. There are lots of people to ask the way: 12 million residentials in Central Tokyo. But…our Japanese is non-existent. We guess we’ll get a feel for these population statistics when we take a ride on the Tokyo subway. But…. how on earth are we going to find our way around Tokyo when the streets have no names?
We have no idea! But….by God’s grace and mercy we do have a feel of finding our way through life having Jesus Christ as our Light, Shepherd and compass and the amazing, amazing gift of the Holy Spirit as our Counsellor.
God has already made known the greater part of his will for us in the Bible – in our own language (thank you for that!!) There are many things for which I don’t need any special guidance, it’s all there in the Word of God, just for taking on board by faith and going for it. And that’s not all, the God of the Bible even gives us divine power for everything we need for life and godliness. It’s for us to get informed and apply the revealed.
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths" (Proverbs 3:5,6 )
God says,Our guiding God calls us to walk by faith, not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7). God doesn't show us more than we need to know. It’s really not for us to tell God how he must guide -if we do,we have a cheek! My part is to keep informed, listen, get it and get on with it, for the glory of His Name and for our direction.
"I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you. Do not be like the horse or the mule, which have no understanding but must be controlled by bit and bridle" (Psalm 32:8,9).
As for the no-name Tokyo-streets………..well, well, we’ll have to see, won't we?!
