In broad daylight – overlooking the highest coastal cliffs in Africa. Somewhere out to sea, the icy Atlantic mingles with the warmer Indian Ocean. The cooler Benguela current washes the Atlantic coast, and is one of the most productive marine zones worldwide.
Our first kiss! April 1972.
Little did we know that day, all our Father had in store for us: He gave, He took away, He gave and because He is always excellent in His goodness, we bless His Name. It ‘s not that we live in denial or cuckoo-land, we know the realities of life. But we’ve been given grace, amazing grace, to know Christ Jesus Himself and the power of His resurrection. He poured & poured out His love in our hearts by the Holy Spirit He has given us. How can we NOT love Him with a first love!
We have been back to Cape Point several times, but 1990 stands out when we found ourselves at the stunning Cape Point once again. Our 3 teenagers + our 2 foster teens insisted Gordon & I repeat our first kiss. You know how teenagers are... And we did – with relish!
That same day we were entertained by Chacma Baboons frolicking in the waves of a small beach nearby – it was sooooo funny! They were waist-deep in the waves and we just laughed and laughed.
Here’s a pic from the internet.
Cape Point is ften mistaken for the southern-most point of Africa. That honour falls to Cape Agulhas, further east of Cape Town - which is the real geographic southern tip of the African continent.
Sir Francis Drake called it "the fairest cape of all".
Happy Valentine’s Day!
Ephesians 3: 18 “And we pray that you, being rooted and established in love, both feet planted firmly on love, may have power, together with all the saints followers of Jesus, to grasp, to apprehend, how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, the dimensions of Christ's love. Reach out and experience the breadth! Test its length! Plumb the depths! Rise to the heights! and know, really come to know this love that surpasses mere knowledge.”
